Just had to share this.....

A story hit the headlines here today about a school in Thailand that now has three bathroom choices for it's students....yep....you read correctly....three.
Male

Female
and Transvestite

The Thai's are well known for their tolerance of the country’s very visible transsexual and transvestite community and they are regularly seen on TV soap operas and throughout Bangkok, working at department stores, restaurants and in office jobs. So when a school in North East Thailand did a survey last term that showed more than 200 of the school's 2,600 students considered themselves transgender they decided to take action. They built a unisex bathroom which features a human figure split in half — part woman in red and part man in blue. Below it are the words "Transvestite Toilet."

The headmaster of the school told a local newspaper that most students didn't have a problem with transvestites but were uneasy when it came to sharing toilet facilities -
transvestites using female restrooms made some of the girls uncomfortable and using the men’s room often resulted in harassment so they decided to give their students a toilet where they could go in peace without fear of being watched or laughed at.

'Three transgender students praised the new restroom as they plucked their eyebrows and applied face powder in front of the mirror outside the stalls'

Only In Thailand....

How fascinating, I can't see that happening over here for a very long time (the third lavatory).

Why? Why would they be uncomfortable sharing a toilet?

DJ - I don't really know why to be honest!! I'm guessing it's because the boys in the girls loo still had all their bits??

I used to go to a gay club in London with my mate (in the hope that he would meet someone lovely) and everyone knew that the girls toilets where for both genders to use to put on make up and go to the loo and the boys toilet was where you went to ....well, you can probably guess!!!

Well I never:-) What surprises me is that it's a school being one of the first to do this and not a shopping centre or club/restaurant. You do educate us Carol:-)

Lane - It's quite advanced isn't it!! Like Debs, I can't see that happening in the UK for a long long time....In fact....I'm not sure I could ever see that happening in the UK!!

How fab! I wish the rest of the world was so tolerant and accepting. I wonder if they would mind if I went into the 3rd loo to get some make-up tips - after all they always look so stunning. Debra x
